is it just me or is SFIII3 not working?
Posted by warengine on 3 February 2009 at 02:03
to be a little clearer, it doesn't see the zip in the roms folder...

@warengine: yeah, im getting the same thing, can see sfiii NG but none of the others. Has there been a change in the mame rom sets that im unaware of? On a more positive note, it seems that analogue control is now working great. Im off to play afterburner!!

@warengine: dont know if this helps, but i can still load 3rd strike, it gives me an error, i press ok and it loads, just turn off "view only available roms" in the options.

@warengine: ok, sorted, there has been a change in the mame romset, im guessing it came in with v129 as i couldnt see it listed in any of the update packs (eg u1/u2/u3) just update your roms and you should be fine

CPS3 drivers were updated by David Haywood in v129u3, here you have a quote: "...Fixed the remaining CPS3 sets that were left broken from the previous half-done set renames. Also reworked the code a bit to make it harder for somebody to break it in future (removed the config table & moved keys to driver inits, define region sizes, allocate memory in init for CD based games.) Should be no functional changes, although it might be a fraction of a % faster due to there being less region lookups. [David Haywood]..." SeeYaa!

And there you have it, update those roms now kids!! Not sure if this is appropriate for the comments section, but if you're having trouble finding up to date roms check out planet emulation / Retro-roms / pleasuredome . These sites seem to keep their sets pretty much up to date (i got up to date sfIII3s from planet emu). Many sites are slow to update, and dont tell you what version roms they have, so if you've re-downloaded and its not working, you have an out of date rom.

Thanks peepz for the fast responses, but I have since fixed the rom issue. It seems the rom I have is good, except missing a certain file - sf33usa.bin

Re: CPS3 Changes. No new files need to be downloaded. The current zips just need to be renamed. For example, the 3rd Strike alternate set is now the main set and vice versa so you need to rename sfiii3an to sfiii3n and sfiii3n to sfiii3an.

Hey there guys, one problem im having at the moment is with the bakraid rom, (had a similar prob with batrider which was solved by renaming the zip. I have been downloading what i thought were up to date roms (from retroroms) yet FBA seems unable to see the bakraid rom? Also FBA seems to think that the unlimited version is the parent rom, which differs from mame. Have i missed something here? cheers guys
Posted by Volumetric on 14 February 2009 at 05:58
ok, think ive sorted it out. Would i be right in saying that bakraid is one of the roms that hasn't been matched to mame 129? Anyone else havin probs, try dl'ing from the retroroms FBA section, instead of the mame one.

All the sets match MAME 0.129u3. Battle Bakraid changed as well as anything else.
Posted by warengine on 14 February 2009 at 17:42
anywhere to find cheats that match?

An IPS support bug report: When I choose the ips option in the ips manager, it saves a wrong ini file in the folder \config\ips with a wrong filename. So the "Play game with IPS patch applied" menu is still disabled and cannot apply IPS patch. Hope this can be fixed in the next version, thanks.

Galaxian Rewrite WIP

I have been rewriting the Galaxian driver I wrote years ago, which never made it into the official FBA, over the last few months. I now have most things up and running. The current number of games added in this new driver is 131!

Everything works well, with the exception of anything that uses the Galaxian sound hardware, which I haven't looked at implementing yet. Other games have sound though, including all the Konami ones like Frogger, Scramble, Turtles, etc. and a few others like Checkman, Jump Bug, Moon Shuttle, Zig Zag and some more. This one should make it into the next release when ready and I'm glad I've finally redone it as it was my very first FBA driver and to do it "properly" now is quite pleasing.

4 Fun In 1 Anteater Atlantis Batman Part 2 Catacomb Checkman Donkey Kong Jr. Frogger Galaxian Jump Bug Lucky Today Moon Cresta Moon War Super Cobra Scramble Speed Coin Tazmania The End Turtles War of the Bugs Zig Zag Moon Shuttle
